A few words about
What We Do
At the Zimbabwe OCD Trust, we offer a comprehensive range of services aimed at providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Anxiety Disorders (AD). Our services are designed to address the diverse needs of our community and empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives despite their mental health challenges.
“Avoid perfectionism. It often leads to decision-paralysis and excessive procrastination.”
― Izey Victoria Odiase
Counselling Services
Our professional counselling services provide individuals with a safe and confidential space to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to OCD and AD. Our qualified counsellors offer evidence-based interventions tailored to each individual’s needs, helping them develop coping strategies, manage symptoms, and work towards recovery. Whether through individual or group sessions, our counselling services aim to support individuals in their journey towards improved mental health and well-being.
Health care
We lead advocacy and awareness campaigns to raise visibility and promote understanding of OCD and AD within Zimbabwean communities. Through targeted initiatives such as social media campaigns, community events, and educational workshops, we aim to challenge stigma, dispel misconceptions, and foster a culture of acceptance and support for mental health issues. We engage with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public to advocate for improved access to mental health services, resources, and support systems. By amplifying the voices of those affected by OCD and AD, we work towards building a more inclusive and compassionate society that values mental health and well-being.
Creative Therapies
Our creative therapy programs harness the power of dance, art, and music to promote mental wellness and healing for individuals affected by OCD and Anxiety Disorders. These innovative therapies offer alternative avenues for self-expression, emotional processing, and personal growth, complementing traditional counselling approaches. Led by experienced and trained therapists, our creative therapy sessions provide participants with a supportive and non-judgmental space to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences through artistic expression. Whether through movement in dance, visual creation in art, or rhythmic exploration in music, participants are encouraged to tap into their inner creativity and find solace, empowerment, and self-discovery. These sessions not only offer therapeutic benefits but also foster a sense of joy, connection, and community among participants, enhancing their overall well-being and resilience.
SUPPORT GROUPS
We facilitate support groups for individuals and families affected by OCD and AD, offering a supportive and non-judgmental environment where participants can connect, share experiences, and receive mutual support. These groups provide a sense of community and understanding, helping individuals feel less isolated in their struggles. Led by trained facilitators, our support groups cover a range of topics relevant to OCD and AD, including symptom management, coping skills, and self-care strategies. Participants often find validation, encouragement, and empowerment through their interactions with peers, fostering a sense of hope and resilience.
